Night of a 1000 Artists
I’m thrilled to be working on an exciting event with the Chronogram Foundation called Night of a 1000 Artists. The Call for Art will be featured in the September issue of Chronogram, leading up to the event on November 13th. I’m so excited to be part of something that brings artists and our community together on this scale. Visit the website and donate a piece!
Mary & Rosie Finds a New Home
Mary & Rosie has sold! This painting is especially personal to me, as it features my grandmother Mary, Venezuela’s first female pilot and one of the women at the heart of my work. She’ll be heading to Denver, Colorado, where the painting will join a wonderful family and art collection. Knowing that this piece has found such a great home means a lot.

Evolving the Women’s Series
In the studio, I’m beginning a new evolution of my women’s series, continuing to explore how our environments, histories, and experiences shape who we are. I’m leaning even further into my graphic design background, playing with composition, abstraction, texture, pattern, and saturated color.
Many of the women in this new group are friends and family, making the work feel especially personal. My grandmother, the pilot, will also make another appearance. This time around, I’m allowing more of my own story to find its way into each painting, while pushing the visual language of the series somewhere new.
And Behind the Scenes...
I’m also working on something completely different: a short documentary film following one of my portrait subjects, a former student, and the process of creating her portrait. It’s an opportunity to tell the story behind the painting, not just through the finished work, but through the relationship, conversations, and process that lead to it. The film is directed by Mike Cimpher.
