Mary & Rosie shows how a straightforward photo can become a colorful, expressive portrait that honors both personality and companionship.

Commission Process

1. Consultation

We start with a complimentary 15-minute call. Come prepared with a few reference photos and we’ll discuss your ideas, size options, and overall direction. After the call, I’ll send an estimated quote, and if it feels like a good fit, we’ll move forward with a simple contract.

2. Pricing & Deposit

All pricing is confirmed before work begins. A 50% deposit is required at signing; the remaining 50% is due at completion. Clients are responsible for tax, shipping, and any installation needs.

3. Creative Development

Once contracted, we’ll schedule a more in-depth conversation—either in person or via Zoom—to explore the story and details that will shape the piece. If you’re local, I’m happy to photograph you for reference; otherwise, I can work from existing photos as long as they’re approved and suitable for the painting.Within 1–2 weeks, you’ll receive a digital concept sketch for review before painting begins.

4. Timeline

Paintings typically take 2–8 weeks, depending on size and complexity. Oil works require an additional ~2 weeks of drying time.

5. Review & Approval

You’ll receive a JPG of the finished piece for approval. Any revisions beyond the approved concept will incur an additional fee (outlined in the contract). Final payment is due before delivery.

6. Rights

The artwork is yours to enjoy, while copyright remains with the artist. The piece may not be reproduced or credited to another creator. The artist may share images of the work for portfolio and promotional use.

7. Project Details

Size, medium, and main subject for the painting are confirmed during Step 3 above. Additional sitters or pets are an extra charge and included in your personalized estimate. Final payment due before delivery. All sales are final.
